We were walking down the block when we thought the bomb went off And our hearts nearly stopped at the sound When we looked and we found that it hit some other crowd I was glad it wasn’t us, yeah I was proud
Cause I fall and I break just as easy as an egg Yeah, my shell isn’t as hard as it seems When my insides gush out there’s no telling what it’s about When it’ll stop, when it’ll seed, when it’ll bleed
Yeah, I just stay in my home, in my home, in my home Yeah, I just stay in my home, in my home, in my home
Well, I take a look outside at the pretty girls outside But I can’t make myself say “Hi” because I’m scared Because I spend all this time all locked up inside It’s the only place I know how to bare
Cause you can go out and meet some girl you can’t defeat And you think that she must be the one Until you’re walking down the isle and she takes away your smile Boy you wish you hadn’t dialed before you wrung
Oh you should stay in your home, in your home, in your home Oh you should stay in your home, in your home, in your home
Well they talk of your past, yeah they said it wouldn’t last But they’re running pretty fast back on their word It was gone for a while but it’s coming back in style Better run back where you’re from and join the mass
Yeah we’ll just stay in our home, in our homes Yeah we’ll just stay in our home, in our homes
“straight bullets coming across the water”—So my professor was talking about cartographic silence in relation to not telling prospective students about how our University is right across the pond from Detroit, and he used the quote above to describe what people may think. I’m talking about the city Windsor, Ontario btw!
Beirut- They have been my all time favourite band since the moment I first heard them; 2005. I saw them this past summer whilst in Antwerp, Belgium. It was originally sold out but my cousin was able to find me a ticket, it was like fate for me to be able to go see them. It was surreal! I was in awe the whole time, straight up!
Miike Snow- I saw them last night in Toronto. I have liked them and only really knew about half of their album but man it was AMAZING! The concert was delayed by two hours but it didn’t even matter, it was totally worth it!
Born Ruffians and Tokyo Police Club- I saw them in Pontiac, Michigan. Their concert had to be the most comfortable ever! I was front row, no one invaded my personal space. No douchebags causing a ruckus, just a great night overall. And it helped that they were Canadian haha. Also I spoke to the Born Ruffians briefly after the show! Tres legit if you ask me!
The Johnstones- I have seen The Johnstones 3 times now and everytime has been awesome! But my favourite show by them was definitely the first one I saw which was about 4 years ago in a really small venue. I was right next to the bass player Brent, who I love! And they were just so funny in their performance, with their synchronized dances and outfits. I especially loved when Ryan Long was on the drums and his hair flying all around in every direction! Great show!
Kanye West and NERD- The concert was also with Lupe Fiasco but we arrived late so we missed it but man oh man, that show was wild! They really know how to put a show on. Kanye West was my favourite rapper at that time and he just blew up the stage, he was so into it and everyone was chanting alongside. It was awesome! That had to definitely be my favourite larger concert that I’ve been too. I usually am not as into it because the venues are just so large and it’s harder to get into but Kanye was so awesome it was hard not to be.
